Art / Criticism / History

Eduardo Abaroa is a Mexican artist and writer who works in the fields of sculpture, installation, and live performance. His work seeks to activate problems and pose enigmas or challenges—whether political, intellectual, or aesthetic—with a critical approach. Essays on the Public brings together a series of performances, actions, and texts, as well as approaches to his sculptural and video work created throughout his career. The collection reveals his investigation into confusion and absurdity through the exaltation of contradictions and the meaninglessness of banal conflicts and circumstances.

This volume inaugurates Alias Publishing's Antithesis collection, comprised of original projects developed by various artists specifically for this series. The name "Antithesis" stems from the understanding of art as a dynamic process of reflection that constantly questions itself.

“I want to present myself as stupefied by my own incoherence, half-converted and crushed. I like feeling like a bag of sphincters that open and close at all hours, from which disconnected words and ideas emerge. My head is the bedroom where several pairs of dogs mechanically fornicate. But it's time for dinner.” –EA
