Punctual as a Swiss clock, Driftmachine presents a new album that once again astonishes and delights. We know their trademark: solid mechanical percussion, powerful bass, and melodies systematically built around circular patterns. "Spume & Recollection" is Driftmachine 's sixth album for Umor Rex , and what better way to celebrate the label's 15th anniversary than with a new record from the masters of labyrinthine cables and patches.
Regarding "Nocturnes" , their debut album, we describe its sound as precise and symmetrical, identical concrete blocks assembled and articulated in a random order. His already obsessive style continued to evolve with his third album, "Colliding Contours" , further exploring abstract dub, ultra-tense grooves and even more kinetic loops, moving further and further away from conventional musical structures. Between these two albums they released the remarkable "Eis Heauton" , a kind of hypnotic experiment influenced by somber atmospheres, chance and an intuitive dialogue with their musical machines, a unique situation in which they acted as stunned observers in search of epiphanies, which resulted in an exquisite amalgamation of lucid dream logic and mechanical precision. A unique soundtrack for wordless, painstaking scenes that unfold in dark alleys and hidden alchemical cellars. A similar map was explored with "Shunter" , a magnificent secret meeting between avant-garde fantasy and concrete experimentation. "Radiations" offered B-sides and bonus tracks, plus collaborations with Shackleton and The Sight Below , a sort of preamble that tied together Driftmachine 's different expressions and inclinations.
When Andreas Gerth and Florian Zimmer present new material, one listens with great expectations. Looking back at their discography, one could safely anticipate a high-quality album densely intertwined with their familiar leitmotifs. And yet, "Spume & Recollection" surprises us and finds a new way to captivate us. New methods and ideas are introduced into its dynamics and formula. Yes, of course, you can still expect a good dose of kosmische , which is one of the dominant characteristics in Driftmachine 's DNA; but this is now intertwined with novel materials, semi-material patterns of alien code stretching over thrillingly tense and detailed grooves, clouds of gas drifting over deep dub architecture and blocking out the sun for a prismatic effect. Even more surprising is the immediate, stripped-down nature of these tracks, making "Spume & Recollection" their most accessible and perhaps most addictive album (and all without sacrificing the essential mystery and strangeness at the core of the sound). by Driftmachine ).
We have previously described his work as post-industrial-dub; At this point, we could simply call it hypno-music for man and machine to dance and dream together. “Spume & Recollection” takes this concept as far as it can without breaking it and unearths some strange feelings and strangely danceable beats to shed some light on this dark and dazzling journey.
All songs written and produced by Andreas Gerth and Florian Zimmer in Berlin. Mastered by John Tejada. Art and photos by Daniel Castrejón.

A simple guide to cleaning and caring for your hard drives:
Dry Brushing: Use an anti-static brush specifically designed for vinyl records. Brush the record counterclockwise before and after each playback to remove dust and particles.
Wet Cleaning: For a deeper clean, use a cleaning solution designed for vinyl records or a mixture of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol in a 3:1 ratio. Apply the solution to a soft, clean cloth or cleaning pad and rub gently in a clockwise direction.
Proper Drying: Make sure the vinyl is completely dry before placing it in its sleeve. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to dry the vinyl or let it air dry.
Proper Storage: Store vinyl records in their original sleeves whenever possible. Store them upright in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme heat.
Avoid Dirty Surfaces: Make sure the surfaces where you place the vinyl decals are clean to prevent dust and dirt from accumulating.
Handle with Care: Handle vinyl records by the edges and avoid touching the playing surface. Use a stylus in good condition and ensure the turntable tonearm is properly set to prevent unnecessary wear.
Avoid Spilled Liquids: Keep liquids, such as drinks or cleaning fluids, away from your vinyl records and the turntable area.
Turntable Maintenance: Ensure the stylus is clean and in good condition. Adjust and calibrate the turntable according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
