Copper is known for its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. When water is stored in this copper pitcher, the metal gradually releases copper ions into the water. These ions have the ability to eliminate bacteria and pathogens, improving the quality of the water we consume. Copper also acts as a natural antioxidant, helping to combat free radicals in the water. This water can aid digestion, promote healthier skin, and offer other health benefits.
About copper craftsmanship: Copper craftsmanship in Mexico has a rich history dating back to pre-Hispanic cultures. During the pre-Hispanic era, Mesoamerican civilizations mastered copper metallurgy, creating ornamental and utilitarian objects. With the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, influences merged, marking a shift in copper craftsmanship. In the colonial period, exquisitely beautiful ecclesiastical and goldsmithing objects were produced. In the 19th century, copper creations diversified to include everyday objects and decorative items.
Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán, has long been an emblematic center for copper craftsmanship in Mexico. This community has kept the tradition of working with copper alive and has contributed significantly to the production of high-quality pieces. Currently, Mexican copper craftsmanship is experiencing a renaissance and is appreciated both nationally and internationally.

Maintenance and care: Keeping copper utensils in good condition and shiny requires a little effort and care. Materials needed: Baking soda, lemon, salt, flour, a soft cloth, warm water, and linseed oil.
Instructions:
Wash the utensils: Begin by washing your copper utensils with hot water and mild soap. Rinse them well and dry them completely.
Create a paste: To remove stains and restore shine, mix baking soda and lemon juice in a bowl to form a paste. Apply this mixture to the stained areas of the utensils and let it sit for a few minutes.
Rub gently: Using a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge, gently rub the stained areas with the paste. The baking soda and lemon will help remove stains and restore the copper's original shine.
Wash and rinse: After rubbing the stains, wash the utensils again with warm water and dry them thoroughly.
Polishing with flour: To add shine, sprinkle a little flour onto a clean, dry cloth. Rub the copper utensils with this cloth in circular motions. This will give them a brilliant shine.
Protect with linseed oil: To prevent future tarnishing and maintain shine, apply a thin layer of linseed oil to copper utensils. Rub gently with a clean, dry cloth. The linseed oil will form a protective layer.
Proper storage: Store copper utensils in a dry place away from moisture to prevent staining.
By following these steps, your copper utensils will remain in excellent condition and retain their original shine. Remember that copper can develop a patina over time, giving it a unique look and enhancing its beauty.
